Dave McKenzie Brooklyn–based Dave McKenzie's videos, sculptures and installations are motivated by the desire to make mundane objects and gestures relevant. His project "American Idyll," sponsored by the Public Art Fund, opened in Brooklyn in September 2003. Recent group exhibitions include "In Practice" at the Sculpture Center, Long Island City, New York; "24/7," Contemporary Art Center, Vilnius, Lithuania; and "Queens International," Queens Museum of Art, New York,. Among his recent video screenings are "Videos in Progress: Dave McKenzie," RISD Museum, Rhode Island, and "Videodrome II," at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York. McKenzie was the subject of a September 2005 Artforum article by Glenn Ligon. His current show, "Haven't Seen You in a Minute," remains on view until Feb. 25 at Gallery 40000, 1001 N. Winchester, Chicago. |
