Inigo Manglano-Ovalle's diverse work is comprised of installation-based practices, photography, sculpture, and community-based projects. Exploring a wide range of interests and the issues inherent to each—such as: genomic mapping, climatology, new technologies, power structures, representation, and identity—he does so as he reexamines the theories and techniques that still linger behind modernism. His work has enjoyed solo and group exhibitions at such venues as the MADC Museo de Arte y Diseño Contemporáneo; San José; Galerie de France, Paris; Cranbrook Art Museum; Musac - Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León, Léon; Liverpool Biennial, Liverpool Biennial of Contemporary Art; Mary and Leigh Block Museum of Art, Evanston, IL; USC Fisher Gallery, University of Southern California, Los Angeles; and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, among others. He has received numerous awards and honors for his work, including the National Endowment for the Arts Visual Artist Fellowship. He currently holds a faculty position in the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois Chicago. |
