Erin Hayden: Your Hyperbole Could Be a Screensaver

"Your Hyperbole Could be a Screensaver, takes the colorful scenic landscape, and celebrates them for what they are, edited versions of generic places. Erin Hayden, is sick and tired of being sick and tired, so she decided to have a party. Dream about green pastures, white clouds and cheese before it’s too late. We can type in b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l space l-a-n-d-s-c-a-p-e or p-i-z-z-a and be right there, scrolling till our hands can’t move anymore and our eyes have enough after-images to glow into a fog. A contemporary meditation. We want to be sincere but all that comes out of our mouth is “have a great day!” and “let’s hangout soon!” Hayden feeds you with what mainstream pretends to nourish you with and what greeting cards hope to accomplish. These works use tropes played on repeat, reenacting the empty lives we are ensured to have as we post another smiley face and pretend to attend another event. At least it was entertaining. Now let’s drink our country time lemonade powder, eat from our chips ahoy container, and call it a mediocre day."
